Golden Skydance by Kamakru Golden Skydance by Kamakru
EDIT: Now, this one had a major 'broken-leg' problem fixed for the poor blue dragon, who's back leg was less than comfortably positioned! Some blurring was done too, as sadly there was too much detail in some parts (yes, it's a thing!).

Pushing contrast in my pieces more and adding more detail as well.
Started with grayscale underpainting and then applied gradient map overlays to create the color, which was really fun to play with! This is the first time I used this method to apply color and working in black/white really helped me understand my contrast and balance. At first it seemed complicated and kinda scary, but I'm really glad I pushed through and just learned it. x]

nice start Katie, I like the value and color in this painting, there are a changes few things I like to see you make.

1. Instantly I was feel there are one too many focal points. I want to look at the face but the high detail on the feet and tail is pulling me away from it. Id suggest using a soft brush to soften that up a little.
2. The poses are okay, I think the red one is fine but the blue one feels a little weird although I do get the pose your after but the feet of the blue dragon is really distracting and throwing me off.
3. Lastly I think you can push the surface scattering on the dragon wings, as you know when light hits a thin surface the light beams through it projecting a lighter value and a bit more saturation (like when light shine straight through our ears).

I hope this helps and as always keep drawing!

Makes sense on the detail for sure, and the surface scattering.
I'll play with the leg a bit and see if I can find a position that feels more natural. I was trying to imagine what the pose would be if the dragon tilted suddenly to the left, and dropped the left wing, and where that foot might end up as it trailed the body.
Thanks for the feedback! I'll keep these things in mind for the revision =]
