Due to past experiences, for the time being I will ONLY be offering pre-made wings that will go up for sale on Etsy.
Overall I don't mind doing customs, but there is so much that goes into them that it's not something I can really put the amount of focus and time in that they need. My first and main focus is my 2D art, while any sort of crafts like the wings are something I do on the side.

I'm sorry for those that have been asking me about wings, but I think this is the best way to do it.
I will not be cutting out customs completely though! When I have the rare chance and the itch to take a custom, it will be posted in my Etsy Shop. Then the details, contract and shipping will be sorted out afterwords. There will be more details in the comments when I post these and I'll advertise here, too.

From now on, commissions for Felt Wings do not 'open'. Rather, a custom post will be made on the Etsy Shop when a slot is available.

Wait LIST - the wait list is discontinued as of August 2013.
(Name, Date of inquiry, size interested in)

:bulletgreen: *everdeer (6/28/12)  - 3ft -  (Brown, tan and teal. Ready to place order when colors are found...searching for colors...)

What kinds of wings can I commission for?

For the design, I can use one similar to one already made kamakru.deviantart.com/gallery… , or I can sketch out a new pattern. I can do different shapes (like if you want pointier or rounder ones) too. I will keep close as I can to actual wing anatomy - none of that round stuff you see at stores.
Also, please keep in mind I'm only using felt as the materials. I'm not going to change materials, and all wings will be feathered ones. I do not have a dragon wing design at this time.

What colors are available?

When thinking of colors, remember I'm using pre-stiffened felt so the colors are limited to what is available.

I do not have the materials needed to dye the felt yet, although I can use cut felt and other means to add designs and markings to the feathers. This also means I cannot do large scale gradients or complex markings. If you're not sure you may note me and I'll let you know if it's doable.

How do we start?

First you must purchase a custom slot (when available) from the Etsy Shop.

****Artist reserves the right to turn down a commission for any reason****

After all the details are worked out, you must sign a contract specific to your wings. The contract will state all the details of the commission for both artist and commissioner.
You can tell me what wings in my gallery you like and we can work from an existing pair, or you can have me sketch out a new wing design. (Custom designs will cost extra)
Once the design is sketched out and approved (including colors), there is no turning back - so be sure about exactly what you want.

Work will not begin until at least 50% or $50 is paid, whichever is greater, and a contract will be made out specific to each commission to keep everyone on track (including me). This will cover the cost of materials and time for setup. The remainder of the payments must be made before actual construction begins.

How much will this cost?

These are basic prices meant for pre-made wings or designs that I have already created.
Custom wings will be based on these prices but may have additional costs depending on what is requested.

:bulletblue: Any design that I must create new adds $15 to the price.
:bulletblue: Add $0.75 per individual feather for designs and markings that I must apply to the feathers myself. This covers cost of materials and extra time for application.
:bulletblue: Extra charges may apply if the design is particularly complex.

___________________________________________________________________
(The overall size of the wings may vary a few inches as I assemble them. This is part of the hand-made process)

6 foot wingspan----------------------$300+ - - - This size is offered as custom only. It is a very difficult and time consuming size to make, and so is priced accordingly.
5 foot wingspan----------------------$185 - - -kamakru.deviantart.com/art/Fel…
4 foot wingspan----------------------$155 - - -kamakru.deviantart.com/art/Fel…
3 foot wingspan----------------------$125
2 foot wingspan----------------------$95 - - - kamakru.deviantart.com/art/Fel…

1.5 foot mini --------------------------$25 - - - fav.me/d2ydtm5
1 foot mini ----------------------------$15 - - - fav.me/d2ydtm5

Shipping is paid AFTER a quote is obtained from Post Office/UPS once the wings are finished. The bigger the wings are, shipping will increase almost exponentially (seriously). Payment for shipping will not be required until wings are completed.

How much is shipping?

If for some reason you are unable to pay for shipping, we can arrange a payment plan.

After the wings are completed I'll go to the Post Office to get a shipping quote, but because this part may vary greatly I don't usually ask to pay for shipping in advance.
In some cases it's easier to estimate slightly over shipping (paid up front) and I refund the difference once they're shipped.
I will require a signature when they're shipped, and get a tracking number and add insurance.
Please keep in mind that shipping may be EXPENSIVE for wings over 36 inches especially. This is not due to the weight, but the size of the box I would have to put them into. I will not ship them until I receive full shipping payment, so please be prepared to pay shipping whatever the cost is. I will accept partial payments until the full amount is received if necessary.

Wings UNDER 3 feet can be shipped internationally for about $80+ (I will only know the shipping once the wings are completed. International shipping has recently doubled in price - please be aware!)
Shipping costs within the US (so far) have been $40 or less.

I will ship wings anywhere but remember that anything over 3 ft getting shipped outside of the U.S. will go up in shipping cost exponentially as in the hundreds (yes plural) of dollars, and I'm not exaggerating there so be careful!
***There is one way to get around this, but that means you'll have to be ok with me literally folding and squishing the wings in half. If you let me fold them in half for shipping, then the cost will be much, much lower, and the wings are meant to bend, so they should be able to flatten out again with only slight bends where it went into the box.

How long will this take?

Building wings is a long, tedious process that I must do this in my free time, so please do not expect me to make them in a few days. As with all commissions I keep updates in my journal on progress.
Generally I quote about 3-4 weeks turnaround time.

How do I know I'll like them once they're finished?

They're all made the same way, so if you like the wings in my gallery, I'm sure you will like yours =]

I will not and can not change major aspects of the wings such as color and shape once they are finished. If for some reason you do not like them, I will not remake them. This is for the protection of my productivity and sanity. If you refuse to send shipping payment, I will deduct 50% for cost of materials and time and return the rest of the payment. If the refund is through Paypal they will automatically take out part of it. I will not cover this fee. The wings will then be up for sale to the public.

I'm nervous about ordering wings...what if there's a problem?

Don't be! I've done plenty of wing commissions in the past and all my clients have been satisfied with the wings they got ^_^
I know it looks like a lot of information to take in, but the only reason I have so much info about these is because it is a large commission and there is much more involved than in a drawing.
For me, I can't afford to have someone order a pair of wings then back out- it's valuable time lost, and it's very difficult for me re-sell already made wings. Plus, my studio isn't big enough to have extra wings hanging around.
As for the contract, it's for protection for both me and you. Contracts are a good because it protects the commissioner and the artist and makes sure everything goes smoothly and everyone gets treated fairly. It's also something you can refer to if you ever have any questions along the way, so you're always informed.

oh wow, these are so beautiful, I will definitely be interested in commissioning you in the future if you are ever open for them.
(I think they would work great for a cosplay that I am working on XD)
